Benicio Del Toro, star of '21 Grams', 'The Usual Suspects' and 'Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas' is the favourite to play to boss of a Mexican drug cartel in Oliver Stone's adaptation of the Don Winslow novel. The film is also set to include Aaron Johnson ('Kick-Ass') and Taylor Kitsch who plays two small time pot dealers interested in the same girl. The film will be a combination of violence and comedy and seems, although probably more serious a film, to be similar to Johnson's previous blockbuster film 'Kick-Ass' where Johnson stands up to a major criminal organization. If I know drug films with Del Toro however, this should be a much more powerful and emotionally charged film even with Johnson's addition of comedy.
Other rumours reveal that Salma Hayek may join Del Toro in the film but these are as yet unconfirmed. The film seems like one not to miss and most things that Benicio is involved in turn out pretty damn good.
