Thor has become the newest US box-office success, taking in a huge $66 million in revenue during its opening weekend. Compared to
Iron Man 2, which was released around the same time last year, the $66 million pales in comparison to the $128 million Iron Man 2 made. However,
Total Film put this down to the fan base of the first
Iron Man film and the fact it was released in 400 more locations. The film has managed to knock
Fast Five, which managed $32 million, off the podium and looks set to make even more.
Jumping The Broom came in at third this week with $13.7 million while Kate Hudson's latest romcom
Something Borrowed fared poorly with $13.2m.
Rio retains its popularity and comes in fifth with $9.5m
while
Water For Elephants managed only $5.7m.
Hoodwinked Too! continued it's dismal run with only $2.2m, bringing it's total earnings to only $7m.
Did anyone see Thor this weekend? What were your views of it? Worth a watch?
