Pirates 4 Takes Box Office Treasure
The fourth installment in the Pirates series, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, has topped this weeks box office with a staggering $346 million worldwide and $90 million in the US alone. The 3D fourquel may no have matched the US success of the third installment (At World's End) which netted $114 million but the amount it generated is evidence that the lack of Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley didn't have a major impact on the potential audience.
Pirates 4 triumphed over the competition, with second place falling to Bridesmaids which managed $21 million in the US. Third went to Thor which managed $15 million whilst Fast Five remained popular with an impressive $10.6 million.
Astonishingly Rio remains in the top 5 with a total of $4.6 million after defeating relatively new film Priest
which could only land sixth after a poor reception.
Seventh went to Jumping The Broom ($3.7m), eighth place went to Something Borrowed ($3.4m), ninth to Water For Elephants ($2.1m) and the top ten was completed by Madea's Big Happy Family which made just under $1 million.
Did you watch any of these films this week? How did you enjoy them?
