Family Guy, American Dad! and
The Cleveland Show writer Seth MacFarlane will become the executive producer for the latest
The Flintstones reboot! The series will be produced by 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros and is said to focus on “the lives of the Flintstones and the Rubbles, two hard-working middle-class families living with contemporary conveniences in the dinosaur-era town of Bedrock.”, reveals
Collider and
Total Film.
MacFarlane showed obvious excitement when he said: “The very first cartoon character I drew at age two was Fred Flintstone. So it’s appropriate that events have come full circle, allowing me to produce the newest incarnation of this great franchise.”
The Flintstones will be a TV series which will begin production in later this year and air for the first time in 2013. Rumours have already been spread that the series could lead to a film spin-off but these are so far
unconfirmed. MacFarlane is expected to perform a few of the voice roles himself although this too is just rumour at this stage.
The series hasn't been touched since an unsuccessful film version in 2000 which failed to impress as much as the 1996 film version which starred John Goodman and provided Elizabeth Taylor with her last film role.
MacFarlane's current project is a film entitled Ted which will star Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis and which he himself will feature.
Do you think the mix of a classic children's series and Seth MacFarlane's comedic talents will be a match made in heaven or will it be totally inappropriate?
